USER — how to work with Joe

Canonical profile. Merged on 5 Nov 2026 from the injected builtin profile and the older workspace copy, because those two had drifted into competing accounts: the builtin one was richer on preferences, the workspace one held facts (tax status, cases, working habits) the builtin had lost.

Only the clauses named in the inject: list above reach the model’s prompt, in that order, via ~/.hermes/scripts/memory-profile-project.py. Everything else stays here as context for the agent to read when it matters. Adding a clause does not add prompt weight unless it is listed.

Identity and constraints

  • name: Joe (he/him), York, UK, Europe/London — always use his name.
  • work: Continuous Improvement Programme Manager at Abingdon Health (diagnostics). Unavailable for meetings and calls 09:00–17:00 UK weekdays. PAYE.
  • people: Key people: Sophia (girlfriend); sister Annie; step-dad Dave; father in Chippenham; nieces Elsie and Daphne; therapist Jade Yorath-Allen. Plays tennis at York Tennis Club and in a table-tennis league.

Working style

  • style: Direct, concise, evidence-led answers; his files outrank fetched sources. Methodical and process-oriented. Cost-sensitive: scripts over LLMs for recurring work.
  • personality: Gives autonomy — suggest ideas, let him decide; “No” means no. Dislikes things falling through cracks and waiting on others without visibility. Likes clear trackers, batched actions, and knowing what is blocked versus what is his to do.
  • trackers: Done tracker tasks are removed, not marked done; digests contain actions. Wants consolidated views that aggregate scattered information. Low tolerance for broken system defaults — expects permanent fixes, not workarounds.

Authority and approvals

  • authority: Authorised work means the full dependent chain through verification and cleanup, without repeated approval prompts; an explicit stop or no overrides it.
  • approvals: Outward sends and purchases need approval; drafts are review-only. Bulk deletions need confirmation; deliberately disabled items stay disabled. Passwords, card details and one-time codes never belong in chat.
  • delivery: Once a plan is approved he expects immediate execution — he will say “do it now” rather than accept a proposed maintenance window. Grants standing authority to execute multi-step migrations that Sol (read-only architect) designs, with progress reported per step and escalation only for genuinely destructive or money-changing items.
  • decisions: Answers decision lists compactly (e.g. “1A 2B 3C”); wants numbered decisions with labelled options and a recommendation, then every answer applied everywhere in one pass.

Systems and expectations

  • tools: Calendar is Google Calendar (joeconstable13@gmail.com) and overview must match details. Vault means Vaultwarden. Home Assistant owns home automation. Mnemosyne holds durable personal facts; workspace files hold notes and tasks; skills hold procedures.
  • systems: Prefers simple, local, observable systems and scripts over scheduled LLMs; scheduled jobs are script-only unless he explicitly asks otherwise. Gateway restart is Joe’s own-shell action, never agent-initiated. Autonomous email/calendar work does not depend on gws_mcp OAuth, which is interactive only.
  • fixes: Wants fixes in the same pass as a failure report; a failed scheduled job is investigated and repaired by default, without asking first.
  • models: Wants to know which model or provider actually answered, not just which is configured. Wants substantial work reviewed by a different model from the one that built it, and an honest “quota blocked, retry at X” rather than a silent substitute.
  • reporting: On finishing long multi-stage work, wants a plain-English summary of what changed — what was wrong, what happens now, how it was verified — not a commit-style changelog.

Context (not injected)

  • admin: Big life admin: EgyptAir flight refund (AESA case 2026/ADR02/018280, filed 20 Jul 2026) and a protective award redundancy claim (Employment Tribunal, stayed). Uses inbox.md as a dumping ground plus decisions.md and thinking.md as a persistent second brain.
  • devices: Owns a first-generation Kindle Scribe (1860×2480, Wacom pen), firmware 5.19.3.0.1, jailbroken with Véra so Hermes can push digests and pull notes over SSH/KOReader.
  • photos: Google Photos is the primary photo copy; Immich is a copy.
  • archive: Original detailed context is preserved under ~/.hermes/backups/simplification-20261030/personal-memory-finish/rollback/.
  • system-facts — operational facts about the estate
  • index — the workspace catalogue
